Cool Lighters
Everyone likes to have something that stands out, but when it comes to camping in the remote area’s I have always thought that having something which is reliable is first preference. However, there are a number of Cool Lighters that you can get both offline and online which will last for year after year without any drama. Don’t be afraid to spend a few extra dollars, as these are truly an important item. There is nothing worse than struggling to light your cooker, or struggling to light a fire to keep you warm. A quality Propane Lighter is money well spent.

I prefer the lighters which are refillable with butane or propane, as they tend to be the cheapest to run, they are reliable and you can bash them around without too much drama. There are a number of different shells that you can purchase off eBay and Amazon, if you are interested. Some lighters are even able to do multiple functions, like act as a knife or torch as well. You can get lighters designed for specific purposes, like heating up to high temperatures to light timber up, or lower temperatures just for lighting gas up.
Whatever you need the lighter for; you should look to get something which will fulfill that need. There is a huge market for Cool Lighters, but you can easily buy some rubbish too. I would advise against buying a lighter at the markets for only a few dollars and expecting it to be reliable for a long duration. The best thing about these though is that being quite small you can carry a spare with you. However, I much prefer to get something that is a bit more expensive which you are sure is going to work time after time.
Don’t jeopardize your safety just because you want to get a lighter which looks good; it’s simply not worth it! One of the more common lighters that you see going around today is in the shape of a plastic cigarette. These are quite Cool Lighters, and they are sold online through a huge number of places. Of course, the Zippy Lighters are popular as well. They are mostly metal and as a result are very robust. Sure, they cost a bit more but I have yet to see one that has been broken without some serious neglect.
These are not always the best lighters to take camping, but they are good for smokers. It all comes down to what you are going to use the lighter for, and what you want the Cool Lighters to look like! Of course, for good value you should get a Refillable Butane Lighter.
